Cabernet Sauvignon, Bordeaux in origin and historically a minority variety in Rioja. It comes from an experimental vineyard in Tudelilla over 40 years old, fully adapted to its surroundings, where it has shown the capacity to deliver a structured, precise expression that is coherent with the territory.
A dry, demanding vintage, especially for long-cycle varieties. In this well-adapted vineyard it allowed phenolic ripeness to be completed, giving concentrated grapes with ripe tannins and a solid structure aimed at cellaring. Production for the vintage: 290 bottles.
Twenty months in one-year-old French oak barrels, aimed at refining the tannin and allowing slow micro-oxygenation. The oak is used as a tool for structure and stability, respecting varietal expression and favouring a long evolution.
Vineyard set on old alluvial soils, with sand, silt, gravel and rounded stones, low in fertility and with excellent drainage. These conditions limit vigour and favour even ripening, bringing balance, concentration and definition to the wine.
Deep cherry red, deeply coloured, clean and bright, with slow legs that reflect structure and concentration.
Serious, complex nose, dominated by ripe black fruit (cassis, blackberry, plum), accompanied by balsamic and spiced notes. Hints of graphite, an earthy background and a fine vegetal component appear, well integrated and without rough edges.
Firm, structured entry. Straight on the palate, supported by a present, ripe, fine-grained tannin. The fruit expresses itself with restraint, accompanied by a well-integrated acidity that brings balance. Long, dry, persistent finish.
Red meats, roasts, game and stews of some intensity. Particularly suited to dishes where the wine can accompany the structure and depth of the whole.
High capacity to evolve in bottle, based on its structure, tannin quality and long ageing. Over time it will gain complexity, refining the whole and increasing its integration. Evolution towards more elegant, defined profiles.
