Garnacha is one of the historic varieties of the Spanish vineyard and one of the best adapted to Rioja Oriental. Coming from old vines and moderate yields, it makes it possible to obtain wines of great balance, finesse and depth when worked with precision.
The 2023 vintage was marked by a dry, demanding cycle, with scarce rainfall and spells of heat during the summer. These conditions reduced yields and concentrated the grapes, favouring structured wines with good cellaring capacity where the harvest was carried out with precision. Production for the vintage: 695 bottles.
Twenty months in one-year-old French oak barrels, aimed at respecting the fruit and refining the structure. The oak works as a tool for integration and stability, favouring a long evolution in bottle.
It comes from a combination of two complementary plots: Cárdenas, with vines around 40 years old on more clayey soils, and Tudelilla, with century-old vines on poor alluvial soils of glacial origin. This duality brings balance, complexity and depth to the wine.
Cherry red of medium intensity, with ruby reflections. Clean, bright and with fine legs.
Expressive and elegant, with ripe red fruit (cherry, raspberry), floral notes and hints of Mediterranean herbs. A spiced, mineral background brings depth.
Soft, enveloping entry. Flowing on the palate, with a fine, well-integrated tannin. The fruit shows itself clearly, with balanced acidity bringing freshness. Medium-long, dry, persistent finish, with spiced and mineral hints.
White and leaner red meats, mild stews, small game, roast vegetables and Mediterranean cooking. It goes well with dishes where the wine brings freshness and balance to the whole. Recommended temperature between 17 and 18 ºC.
Good capacity to evolve in bottle, based on its balance, fruit quality and ageing. Over time it will gain complexity and greater integration. Evolution towards finer, more elegant profiles.
